Before the start of "Campus Conversations," Andrew Vigario, president of NCAS-SGA, kindly asked any administration to leave the room. "This is an informal student forum. Anyone can talk about any particular issues. We want this to be student based."

"Campus Conversations" were held Monday through Friday, Nov. 14 - 18.

Seated at the panel alongside Vigario were Mubarak Guy, president of the University College SGA, and Suzanne A. Elshafey, legislative vice president of NCAS-SGA.

Eighteen students, ready to express their thoughts and concerns about Rutgers-Newark attended the forum.

A sign-in sheet was passed around and all present were asked to stand up and introduce themselves.

After that, it was left up to the students to state their concerns.

The conversation was sparked by a student itching to get out her opinion about the lack of communication on campus.

"To say this school has a communication problem is an understatement," said Robin Laverne Wilson, with apparent anger.

She mentioned her concerns from things as little as not knowing the correct location to take the shuttle bus; to things like the length of time it takes Rutgers-Newark to process important paperwork.

Other issues raised by students included student life on campus, public safety, student services, parking, psychological services, and health services, along with other issues that are important to students at R-N.

"The psychological services here are poor," one student ranted.

He talked about his issues regarding a problem he had as he still awaits to be seen by a psychologist on campus after a month of waiting.

"I have a friend at Rutgers-New Brunswick who was seen the same day she filled out the paperwork."

They then went on talking about our poor health services here at R-N.

"The ratio of doctors to nurse practitioners here is 1 to 4."

Other students voiced their concerns as Vigario, Guy and Elshafey jotted them down.

"We're going to take this information to the Provost office.

Solutions will be thrown out from there," Vigario said.
