The key to success is to always do more than is required. Those are the words of wisdom offered by former corporate executive and current motivational author and speaker Bob Danzig.

Danzig spoke to John Straus's R-N English class on Monday, Dec. 5.

Danzig said that the two most important skills for success are "being able to articulate clearly and being able to write with clarity."

He also shared two phrases that he claims changed his life when he heard them as a child from his foster home caseworker and foster mother: "You are worthwhile" and "You are full of promise."

Danzig spent his childhood in five foster homes. As an adult he served as nationwide head of The Hearst Newspaper Group and vice president of The Hearst Corporation for two decades.

He has authored several motivational books including "The Leader Within You," "Every Child Deserves a Champion," and "There Is Only One You."

His speaking and author fees are donated to foster children and gifted young musicians.
