(Dec.7) - The Raiders suffered a blow-out at the hands of William Patterson in an NJAC women's basketball match-up in the WPU 'Wreck' Center of Wayne. Senior center Christyal Anderson and sophomore forward Toni Roselli led the Raiders with just seven points each in the contest.
Turnovers have been a problem for the women's squad. No one takes responsibility to hold and protect the ball, and 22 first half turnovers killed the Raiders yet again, digging themselves into a 35-12 hole. They hit just four for 11 field goal attempts, to go with a 15.6 shooting percentage in the second half. WPU shot 42.4% from the floor and held a commanding 46-34 lead in rebounding. The Pioneers coach rested their starters, and let their second team finish the game after just 25 minutes in. Accounts of the game were simply, "It was embarrassing...Sickening...Just embarrassing."
The Raiders have strong finishers in Eni Fageyinbo, Toni Roselli, Christyal Anderson, Sabrina Sanchez, and Nerlande Nicolas. However, poor shooting can be contagious. It is hard to gauge which team will show up on a given night: the resilient, defensive, and offensive Raiders, or the team that forgot they have a possibility to win on any given night. Every conference match matters. The Raiders need to bring their A-games every night from here on out, in order to be NJAC contenders.
