The Observer Editorial Board is proud to announce the First Annual 'Jackass of the Semester' Award to hereby be bestowed upon the most foolish public figure on our campus.
The first-ever award goes to NCAS-SGA Sophomore Sen. Darrius G. Humphrey for his asanine comments and boorish behavior while representing his class in the student government.
In an e-mail sent out to student leaders last week, Humphrey claims that fellow senator Anthony Diaz is representing the student body in a bad light through the newspaper.
But what about the image Humphrey himself portrays?
Humphrey is the one that attacked a senate opponent for being gay. Humphrey is the one who had to be "held back" when a debate didn't go his way.
Humphrey, with the support of this page, escaped impeachment after 100 students signed a petition calling for his oustal. But then at the following meeting, he imploded again. Not wanting to wait his turn, he jumped over the table and began to yell at every other senator present about how they were not following the constitution. Then he got into another shouting match with yet another senator.
Sen. Humphrey - you're the winner.
