The Rowan Profs visited R-N Wednesday night and left with a loss, as the Scarlet Raiders prevailed with a final score of 76-61.
The game started off slow, scoreless in the first two minutes of play. R-N trailed 25-32 at halftime but broke away in the second half, doubling first half points. Junior Jermont Horton led R-N scorers with 21 points and senior Justin Carter exploded in the second half, firing off 14 points and 4 assists.
Junior Philippe Slater had a strong defensive presence, holding Rowan's best shooter, Matt Byrnes, to only 3 points in the last five minutes of the game.
"Rowan plays small on the front court but I just feel like we're a bigger team, quicker, more athletic. We were prepared for their zone defense, we found gaps, and made shots," said Horton following the game. "We need to continue to play hard to make a a NJAC berth. We can do it."
