A bomb went off in New York several months ago of which the likes had not been seen for years now.

It was no terrorist attack. It came in the form of a reunion between Chris Haskett, Melvin Gibbs, Sim Cain, and Henry Rollins in a NYC rehearsal studio.

It's what we've been waiting for all these years: the original Rollins Band reunited. Their presence in the world of rock will once again hit the eardrums of the young and the old like Little Boy at Hiroshima.

On Rollins' blog, "Dispatches" (www.henryrollins.com), he finally made public the fact that he and former band mates will begin practicing once again, aiming to play shows in August.

Rollins Band first broke up back in 1997 after the release of their last album "Come In And Burn," which was well received by fans but panned by critics.

After the band discussed it amongst themselves they decided that there was just nowhere else to go musically. They had done all they could do, so the band called it quits.

In 2000 Henry formed a new Rollins Band with the members of the heavy-soul band Mother Superior.

This incarnation of the band had more of a driving rock sound to it than the eclectic alternative sound of the band's previous lineup. Alas this era only lasted two albums ("Get Some Go Again and Nice") before it was dismantled when the drummer quit.

I'm not sure what to expect this time around. Will Rollins Band go back to their heavy alternative roots?

Will they turn this into a career again and begin recording new material?

Will they blow whatever Jack Johnson-Birkenstock-mtvU band is "so it right now" out of your iPod and leave you lying on your ass while your girlfriend leaves you for an evolutionary throwback?

Will it suck? I have no idea. Being a fan of Rollins, I always believe he delivers. I guess we'll find out if the band still has the rock in their guts come August. I'll see you in the pit.
