Should women save themselves for marriage?

When I was younger I used to think that for a girl, saving yourself for marriage was the right thing to do. Although I'm not a religious person, there were sayings like, "he won't buy the cow if he can get the milk for free," that made me self-conscious about premarital sex. But as I became older, I started to ask more questions about why can't girls have sex with whoever they want and not be scorned for it.
I know it's the 21st century and women have more sexual freedom than they've ever had before, but there are still a growing number of people who believe that women should abstain from sex until after marriage. However, I don't think that's completely realistic.
For one, what if the sex is horrible or there is no sexual chemistry? Are women supposed to just have no say in their own sexual experiences?
Women get it bad either way when it comes to sex. They're called a tease if they don't give it up too easily or a slut if they do. And although the majority of men are all for having sex with a complete stranger, they don't necessarily want to marry a woman who has had more sex partners than they have.
The topic on a morning radio program recently was a man asking his girlfriend how many people she's had sex with and to compare her number with his. A number of women called, expressing that they took their own number of sex partners down because they didn't want their boyfriends to think they were sluts. If a man has slept with 12 women and his girlfriend only slept with three guys, her boyfriend would not be considered a slut or a whore.
Are men intimidated by women who embrace their sexual power? I think so. I envy women who don't give a damn about what other people, especially men, think. They play by their own rules and don't answer to anyone but themselves. Characters like Nola Darling, from the Spike Lee Film "She's Gotta Have It," "Real World Philadelphia" cast mate, Sarah, and Kim Cattrall's portrayal of the infamous Samantha Jones in "Sex in the City," -- these women represent, in the words of Cosmopolitan Magazine, the FUN, FEARLESS, FEMALE!, a motto that every woman should live by.
For women, sex will always be an issue, but when someone is trying to control their sexual rights, it should be their decision and no one else's.

I think men and women should wait for marriage. Having satisfaction after marriage seems to be a problem when people have had so much experience before they're married. (Continued…)
