(Dec. 6) - Juniors Toni Roselli and Stephanie Ross led the way in the second half, each netting eight points as Rutgers-Newark rallied from a 13-1 deficit for a 54-47 New Jersey Athletic Conference women's basketball win over New Jersey City in The Golden Dome.

Roselli, who registered 13 points, put the Scarlet Raiders (5-2, NJAC 2-0) ahead for good with an NBA-range 3-point jumper with 5:38 left to make it 43-40 and put the game out of reach to NJCU. Ross, who posted a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds, joined Roselli and senior forward Trina Whitehead with three steals apiece in what turned out to be a turnover-filled contest.

Gothic Knight point guard Latrese McNair had a rare double-double, leading all scorers with 18 points while collecting 11 steals as well as a game-high four assists.

McNair fueled the 13-1 start by NJCU (2-4, NJAC 0-2) with seven points and three steals in the opening 5:54 of play. But the Raiders whittled the lead to 19-14 on a routine 3-point play by Ross with 6:10 left in the period. The Gothic Knights led 26-19 at half.

Neither team could find their range in the early second half, but R-N finally tied NJCU at 30-30 on a pair of Ross free throws with 12:43 remaining.

A pair of McNair free throws gave the Gothic Knights their last lead at 40-38 with 6:34 left before junior forward Eni Fageyinbo evened the score again at 5:38 to start what turned into a decisive 8-0 run for the Raiders.

Following Roselli's 3-point bucket, sophomore guard Youngor Kehleay made a steal on the defensive end and drove coast to coast for a lay-up and ensuing free throw to make it 46-40 with 4:47 left.

(Dec. 9) - Junior forward Sabrina Sanchez led the way for Rutgers-Newark with 15 points, but John Jay snapped the Scarlet Raiders' five-game winning streak with a 58-53 win in The Dog Pound in a non-conference women's basketball game.

The Raiders slipped to 5-3, letting up over 50 points in a game for the first time in six games. Twenty-three R-N turnovers led to 24 John Jay points to prove the difference in the tightly contested game.
