No Restraints

A man was arrested on the charge of violating a restraining order on the afternoon of March 7, 2008.

According to police Morris Murray, a 53-year-old Irvington resident, entered the Law Center around 4:15 p.m. and was identified by a witness who was absolutely certain there was a restraining order against him.

The witness called police and Murray was taken into custody; a subsequent record check revealed Murray had several outstanding warrents.



Didn't Get the Hint

A 22-year-old male R-N student filed a complaint after he received threatening text messages from a female on March 11, 2008.

According to police, the male Newark resident had recently told the 21-year-old female from Elmwood Park, NJ that he no longer wanted any contact with her.

According to the report, the woman became irate and sent threatening text messages.

Police say the case is still under investigation.



Trashed Stuff, Trash Talk

A 22-year old female R-N student who lives in Talbott Hall reported to police that she received several threatening emails and phone calls from the apartment's previous occupant.

According to police, the previous occupant had lived in the apartment about a year ago and requested that some belongings that she left behind be returned to her; the new apartment occupant had thrown out the belongings.



Crime Stinks

Police were dispatched to a University Square dorm room after an employee from R-N housing smelled marijuana emanating from the room, said an official from campus safety.

Police said that when they entered the dorm room on March 12, 2008, they found four students in the room, three males and one female.

After a search police stated they discovered two small plastic bags used for containing marijuana as well as two empty bottles of vodka.

The three males denied that they used any drugs, but the female student admitted to drug use.
