Cute With Chris Live In Toronto

Cute with Chris (CWC) is a satirical comedy show that is about cuteness, specifically of pets. New episodes can be found every Monday at cutewithchris.com or at youtube.com.

I've been watching CWC for some time now and thought it would be fun to attend his second live show, a full eight hour drive, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Yes, Toronto, a diverse city, similar to New York, but with dirt blowing into your eyes. Bring eye protection. And a nice breakfast place on Yonge Street called Eggspectation. Their pancakes are soooo melt-in-your-mouth good.

So I went through Pennsylvania, passing through farms and sporadic housing. They were creepy. Then through New York state, where there were more, but organized and clean cut, farms.

Going through the border to Cananda was no issue. The same cannot be said when coming into the US.

After I crossed the border, I saw a conversion sign: 60MPH = 100kmph. I did not expect to see the metric system here. Even the temperature is in Celsius, not Fahrenheit.

Then another sign: Seat Belts Are Compulsory.

Then another: 100kmph Maximum.

Interesting use of words in Canada. I do not remember ever learning the word compulsory, but I was smart enough to know that it meant mandatory.

Passing through Ontario, I saw a lot of industrial sites to the left. On the right I saw Lake Ontario, which looks so vast that it can easily be mistaken for an ocean.

Skipping ahead to the show. It was on Saturday, April 19th at 8 p.m. There was a group of people at the door. I got tickets and then waited to sit next to the other 156 viewers in this old theater, which you can visit at theatrecentre.org.

Fancy is not the word I would use to describe it. But it doesn't matter because we are here to see Chris, not the theater.

Before Chris came onto the stage, the audience was greeted with his ususal MacBook on a lonely table and to the left was a projection screen.

Then he came onto the stage, riding a 44-foot puppy, shooting fire out of its anus. The night was definitely filled with surprises. I actually thought I was going to see about 5-10 minutes worth of material, but he surprised us with about 45 minutes worth.

Not only did we get free pens, but we even got viewer-supplied buttons. Mine says "Hit That Donut!", a quote from one of Chris' characters, Colty, the perverted plastic horse. Thanks to those devoted fans.

In conclusion, the show was great; Canada was great; and I would do it all over again. In fact, I hope that the next Cute with Chris Live is also close enough for me to attend.
