Two former Rutgers-New Brunswick athletes from the class of 2006, Cappie Pondexter and Carli Lloyd, both contributed to their professional teams' victories after they helped capture gold medals, in women's basketball and soccer, at their 2008 Summer Olympic debut in Beijing, China.
