Ask around and you'll see that almost every student has a story of their very own "RU Screw." A term given to the university screwing something or another up for you, whether it's your class registration or your financial aid, the RU Screw has become a household name.
With the new semester and the new influx of students that came over year, it is still surprising to hear how many freshman have had to deal with the wrath of the financial aid office already.
Most people have years of their college experience getting screwed over by the staff or the incredible disorganization, but to deal with it your first month of college - we feel for you.
It goes to show that that aspect of the university, no matter how many complaints are filed or how many articles are written, seems to just be stuck and not take students' suggestions really to heart. In fact, one may also go as far as to say that the services have actually gotten worse over the years.
For example, if we are not mistaken, last year when students received their refund checks they were notified by emails - where have those notfications gone?
More often than note, if a student goes to the student accounts area on the one end of the 3rd floor, they will be sent to the other side fo the department to the "financial aid" side as soon as a straight answer can't be given.
You can't help but wonder if they really care about our problems. Mind you, the actual advisors are great, helpful, and seem to really care ab out students' situations, but good luck trying to find one.
Until then, bite your tongue and spare the representative and write a letter or email to the department about your complaints. And if you don't have any, please share your good experience too.
