This week, the Premier league was certainly not for the faint hearted. Liverpool's unbelievable comeback at the City of Manchester stadium capped a breathtaking round of matches that began with Manchester United's brilliant dismantling of Bolton. Chelsea underlined their title credentials with a classic win over a strong Villa team, while Arsenal struggled against Hull City-the surprise package of the league this year.

The highlight of Saturday's matches was the duel between Sir Alex Ferguson and his old disciple Paul Ince (now a manager at Blackburn). A fit again, Wayne Rooney inspired a United team that looked like they would steamroll Blackburn early on. Dimitar Berbatov's lazy, elegant passing coupled with Rooney's incisive runs repeatedly carved open Blackburn's defense and only poor finishing saved Blackburn from a major humiliation.

Stand-in keeper Brown started off on the right foot when he spectacularly saved Giggs' left foot thunderbolt. But his 'Superman' heroics weren't enough to prevent United from taking the lead. Blackburn's lack of offense meant that it was up to Brown to hold the fort against United's glittering array of attacking talent. He admirably frustrated United and took Blackburn to the half time break only a goal in arrears.

Berbatov continued his operation into Blackburn's vitals with great effect and created a great chance for Ronaldo who dragged his effort well wide. There was an air of inevitability about the second goal and it arrived courtesy of the Ronaldo-Rooney connection. A sudden burst of speed sent Ronaldo clear and he squared for Rooney to expertly curl over the stranded Brown. Rooney's stupendous control set him free once again but his lob went narrowly over the bar.

United continued to threaten and only Brown's heroics prevented them from embarrassing Blackburn. Tevez hit the post late on as United easily closed out a game which they deserved to win by a bigger margin FINAL
